What is Rapid Response?

Rapid Response assists dislocated workers transition to new employment opportunities when a company closes or cuts its workforce.  The Rapid Response Team meets with the company to find out which workers will be affected and what services they need.  Businesses in Chemung, Schuyler or Steuben are with questions regarding Rapid Response services are welcome to contact the Southern Tier Representative, David Croston at (607) 741-4518 or david.croston@labor.ny.gov.  An array of services are offered depending upon what the workers needs are.

How do employees file for Unemployment Insurance?

Unemployment Insurance helps eligible workers who lost their jobs to no fault of their own.  The fastest, most secure way to file is online.  Visit www.labor.ny.gov.  To file a new claim by phone, call the toll-free claim center at 1-888-209-8124 (NYS Residents) otherwise 1-877-358-5306 (out-of-state residents).

Need to develop an Employment Plan?

Workforce New York TAA Counselors can assist participants who are ready to develop their employment plan regardless of the program you have selected to participate in.  You will need to work with your counselor to complete the appropriate paperwork to get started.
